- Arrive on time and prepare according to the trainers' instructions.
- Wear clean and appropriate sportswear (gi or rashguard).
- Respect fellow athletes and trainers at all times.
- Nails should be short and clean; Jewelry is not allowed during training.
- Injuries or health problems must be reported to the trainer.
- Pay attention to personal hygiene: because we come into close contact with each other intensively and closely during training, it is important that your body, hands, feet and sportswear are clean. This not only provides a more pleasant training environment, but also helps to prevent skin infections and other health problems.
5. Prohibited techniques and safety
To ensure the safety of all participants, the following techniques are prohibited during the training:
- Slamming (forcefully throwing someone to the ground from guard or submission position)
- Jumping attacks (techniques where you jump on your opponent such as jumping submissions)
- Scissor takedowns
- Suplex takedowns (throws where the opponent is thrown backwards over the shoulder)
- Direct backward collar pull from turtle (such as pulling backwards on an opponent's collar in turtle)
In addition, the following techniques may only be used if this has been clearly agreed upon in advance between both partners and is explicitly allowed by the trainer:
- Knee reaping
- Heel hooks
- Kneebars
- Toe holds
- Spinal locks (direct pressure on the spine without arm or leg control)
- Neck cranks (forcing the neck outside natural rotation without strangulation)
6. Safety
Can your partner escape.
Are you going to force → more chance of injury.
Miss your finesse and learn your wrong timing.
- To enable submitted submissions in a controlled (slow) manner:
Slowly build up submission (gradually increase pressure).
Regularly check whether your partner is able to tap.
- Danger of speed and explosiveness in submissions:
Deploying quickly makes it difficult for your partner to tap in time.
Especially with preload such as in armbars, toeholds or heel hooks, you sometimes don't feel a warning — it's suddenly there.
- Each participant is responsible for respecting the safety of his/her training partner and adhering to the technical guidelines of the club.
